A pride of flags seems like the way to go, although it is sad that just flying “Old Glory” may be (likely would be?) misperceived.
You should absolutely get the flag of the United States Bureau of Fisheries!

As you note at the end of your Esquire piece, the Pride flag would do a lot re: signalling. I might suggest the Progress Pride flag in particular (https://www.lgbtqnation.com/2022/06/progress-pride-flag/) in particular.
